Dr. Meiru Liu, with research interests in Chinese pedagogy, curriculum design and China studies, is Chinese Language & Culture Professor of the Master of International Management Program in School of Business at Portland State University (PSU) since 1996 and taught a course titled “Cross-Culture Communications in Multi-national Corporations” in 2004-2006. She was the Founding Director of the Confucius Institute at PSU from 2007-2015 and Director and Lead Professor of the Oregon Graduate Chinese Language Teacher Professional Training Program from 2008 to 2015 and has been an invited as academic adviser, consultant and teacher trainer for teacher training programs at universities in both the US and China, and an invited trainer, guest speaker and Member of Hanban Expert Team in international Chinese Teaching and LearningMaterials Dr. Liu has been invited as business Chinese culture and cross-cultural consultant and specialist for training Asian-Pacific and Global department senior managers and employees at several multi-national corporations. She has also served as organizer and co-organizer for more than a dozen regional, national and international conferences, forums, seminars on Chinese Pedagogy, Chinese Language Teaching and Teaching Materials, Cross-Cultural Communication and Translation Studies, Oregon-China Investment, Education, Culture and Tourism, Chinese Education and Economic Forums, to name a few. Dr. Liu is the author and co-author of more than 20 books on China studies, Chinese culture, Chinese business culture, translation studies, cross-culture communication, Chinese pedagogy, Chinese classroom management, Chinese language textbooks of business Chinese, spoken Chinese, Chinese characters for listening, speaking, reading, writing, typing and translating, etc. Dr. Liu is a frequent speaker and presenter at regional, national and international conferences and published numerous journal articles and book chapters in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and China-related research field.
