Jim Beriault brings 33 years of marketing experience to PSU. He specialized in working with small businesses, national restaurant and hotel chains, public venues and malls, and the entertainment industry (trade shows, concerts, and events).
After graduating from Portland State University in 1991, he worked at his family's marketing agency, where he had the opportunity to serve clients nationwide. Jim’s specialization is developing time-constrained marketing strategies and urgency messaging, for which he developed outreach campaigns for over 150 U.S. companies.
He enjoys sharing his industry background and experience in managing and running marketing agencies with his students, as well as teaching the fundamentals and current trends in marketing.
Jim is also the faculty advisor to the PSU Marketing Club – the Marketing Collective, and is Co-Chair of the Scholarship Committee, and is the recipient of the 2025 PSU Faculty Teaching Innovation Award.
Jim has a Master of Business Administration (with a concentration in marketing) from Fitchburg State University and holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Cumberlands. Jim’s research focus is on improving educational materials, textbooks, and classroom engagement for marketing students.
