Dr. Carlos Mena joined Portland State University in the fall of 2018. His research focuses on how supply chain management practices impact economic, social, and environmental performance. He has authored over 100 publications, with his work appearing in leading journals including the Journal of Operations Management, the Journal of Supply Chain Management, and the Journal of Business Logistics.
Dr. Mena is also the author of three books: Leading Procurement Strategy (2025; 2021; 2018; 2014), Sustainability and Risk across the Supply Chain (2024) and Delivering Performance in Food Supply Chains (2010). Before joining PSU, he held positions at Michigan State University and Cranfield University in the UK.
Dr. Mena earned his Engineering Doctorate and MSc in Engineering Business Management from the University of Warwick (UK), and holds a BEng in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico.
