Sambit Tripathi is an Assistant Professor of Business, Technology & Analytics. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in Management Information Systems. He received his MBA and Bachelors in Engineering degree from India. He teaches BTA 420, BA 325 in Fall 2023. Furthermore, he has taught Python and machine learning-related courses at UMass Lowell.
Sambit has worked as a business analyst and pre-sales manager at a Fintech firm for over 3 years which helped him gain an appreciation for the real-world challenges in organizations and informs his ongoing research. He has worked to solve the business problems of financiial organizations located in the Asia Pacific and African regions. His research interests lie in two broad themes related to business analytics and big data: (i) contributing to theory by analyzing user-generated content (UGC), a category of big data generated by online platforms, and (ii) developing data analytics methods to solve big data problems. Sambit has published in the Information Systems Frontiers journal and presented his research at several conferences like HICSS, AMCIS, WITS, and informs DS Workshop among others. Sambit also actively reviews for several information systems conferences and journals.
Sambit enjoys his spare time traveling and hiking.
