Real Estate Development Minor Overview

Most cities in the United States are facing housing shortages and development challenges. Portland State’s unique and nationally recognized core curriculum provides the framework for the real estate development minor which combines the practical skills needed in the development field with a high level of understanding of urban planning, finance, economics and property management.

Earn Your Minor in Korean

Take your love for K-pop, K-dramas, Korean food, and culture to the next level by minoring in Korean at Portland State University. In our program, you'll learn to speak, read, and write Korean, all while exploring what makes Korea's culture so unique and exciting.

More than 80 million people speak Korean, and it’s one of the 15 languages that the U.S. Department of State says is critical to national security and economic prosperity. Knowing Korean can open up new opportunities like:

  • Working in global business, travel, or diplomacy
  • Teaching English or becoming a translator in Korea
  • Going to grad school for Asian studies or international relations
  • Joining the booming Korean pop culture world, including music, movies and TV

Korean Minor: Why PSU?

PSU's Korean minor combines language courses with culture and linguistics courses. For your electives, choose from English-language classes on music, film, Asian art and modern East Asia history. 

We offer you flexibility, giving you the chance to learn from home, online or in a hybrid format.

Immerse yourself in the language and culture through study abroad programs. We offer an exchange program with South Korea’s University of Ulsan, or you can apply to participate in a fully funded immersive summer program at several universities in Korea.

Outside of the classroom, join active student clubs like the Korean Club and the Korean Student Association, and attend lectures and events hosted by PSU's Institute for Asian Studies.

What can I do with a minor in Korean?

Korea is one of Oregon’s top five trading partners, and many Korean companies, including Samsung, LG and Hyundai, continue to seek qualified employees as they expand. 

Our minor gives you a good working knowledge of the Korean language and understanding of Korean culture. You’ll have an edge for jobs in the tech industry, diplomacy, business and more. Many students also pursue opportunities to teach English in Korea and travel after graduation.

Semiconductor Technology Master's Overview

Launch your career in the semiconductor industry with a master’s in semiconductor technology from Portland State University. 

The semiconductor industry is growing faster than the workforce can keep up. PSU’s master’s program puts you at the center of Oregon’s Silicon Forest — home to more than 200 high-tech companies and 30,000 employees. Our applied program combines advanced coursework in semiconductor technologies with hands-on internships, preparing you to work in fabrication facilities and giving you the skills employers are looking for from day one.  

With strong career opportunities in one of the nation’s top semiconductor hubs, you’ll graduate ready to step into a high-demand field.

Semiconductor Technology Master's Degree: Why PSU?

Our program was developed in collaboration with local semiconductor companies, ensuring that the training you receive matches the skills employers need most. 

You’ll gain a strong foundation in both theory and applied skills through your courses in physics, chemistry, mechanical and materials engineering and statistics. Our classes are taught by our expert faculty as well as experienced professionals in the field. With access to PSU’s cleanroom, teaching labs and the Center for Electron Microscopy and Nanofabrication, you’ll be training on the same equipment found in industry. 

Choose from two tracks — Device Processing and Materials and Device Characterization — to customize your degree to your interests and career goals. 

The program’s capstone is a three-month internship at a local semiconductor facility. You’ll apply your skills, gain industry experience and build your network. 

Full-time students can complete the program in just one year, while working professionals may choose to pursue it part-time.
