CHANGES TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

Campus Rec is beginning the process of lifting COVID-19 health and safety restrictions for the Rec Center. Face masks are still required for all activities in the Rec Center with the exception of lap swimming in the pool, showering, and drinking/eating. Physical distancing of 6 feet is no longer required, and maximum occupancy limits related to COVID-19 have been lifted. Free Lifeguard Training Program

The Lifeguard Training Program is free for current and incoming PSU students who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and intend to work as a lifeguard for Campus Rec after completing the American Red Cross lifeguard certification course. No experience required. Help us rebuild our lifeguard community!

Group X Cohort Program

Campus Rec's Group Exercise (Group X) Cohort Program assists underrepresented students with entering the group fitness field. The cohort program offers free entry into the ACE Group Fitness Instructor Training (GFIT) course, mentorship from Group X instructors, a pathway to employment at Campus Rec

Council Crest Park is thought to be the highest point in Portland at 1,073 feet above sea level. Join the Outdoor Program as we complete a 5.5-mile trip starting and ending at the PSU campus and culminating at the summit of Council Crest. We will take our time spotting birds and admiring local trees and flowers. Our reward for reaching the top of Council Crest will be incredible views of Portland, Mt. Saint Helens, and Mt. Hood. Explore the beautiful, forested hills just west of the PSU campus on this 7.5-mile hike. We will leave from the Outdoor Program and head through the city as we make our way to Washington Park. Further down the trail,  discover  thousands of native, global, and endangered tree species at Hoyt Arboretum. Make some new friends and get to know Portland better on this beautiful hike through the city. Get outside and make new friends as we explore Portland's urban forests together! We will depart from the PSU campus and make our way to Marquam Nature Park, which spans over 170 acres. Enjoy a physically distanced snack  at the trailhead on the mosaic covered steps before heading out on the Terwilliger Trail. Looking for a way to get out on the water this summer? Come sea kayaking with the Outdoor Program! Meet us at Willamette Park to learn about sea kayaks, fit the boats, load them up, and practice paddle strokes before taking a short kayak tour. Paddle across the Willamette River to check out the house boats, cruise around Ross Island, and swing by OHSU for a unique view of the city.
