The Office of the Dean of Student Life and the Office of Human Resources would like to offer support for students, faculty and staff who may have been impacted by a shooting incident which occurred early this morning at the 900 block of SW Montgomery Street. While the victim involved in this incident is not affiliated with PSU and authorities have determined that there is no ongoing threat, we know that such acts impact us all and we write to provide information about resources available to all members of the PSU community.
The Center for Student Health and Counseling (SHAC) has a team of mental health professionals available to provide confidential services to any student seeking support. The PSU C.A.R.E.Team/Dean of Student Life Office helps coordinate support services for students in distress and those needing assistance in navigating university resources. For employees, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers crisis counseling and up to three counseling sessions face-to-face, over the phone or online. The investigation of this crime is being led by the Portland Police Bureau. Anyone with information about this incident should contact Portland Police Detective Rico Beniga at 503-823-0457. PSU Campus Public Safety Office is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and can be reached via phone at 503-725-4404 (emergency) or 503-725-4407 (non-emergency).
