Biography:

Maude Hines is Professor of English, Chair of Black Studies, and affiliated faculty of Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies.  She received her Ph.D. in Literature from Duke University, along with graduate certificates in African-American Studies and Women's Studies. She specializes in American literature, with particular emphasis and critical childhood studies, African American literature, and the Gothic. She is a founding member of PSU’s Homelessness Research & Action Collaborative (HRAC), where she leads the “Changing Narratives, Creating Action” research strand. She is currently completing a book about racial trauma and the temporal dimensions of gothic childhood.
