Dr. Yasin Tunç is an Associate Professor of Practice in the College of Education, specializing in secondary teacher education, world language and dual language immersion and bilingual teacher preparation. His teaching areas include curriculum theories, international and comparative education, the historical, philosophical, and sociological foundations of education, critical digital literacy, and world language/DLI teaching methodologies and philosophies, among others.
His current research explores the experiences of dual language immersion and bilingual education teachers as they transition from pre-service preparation into secondary programs. He examines how these educators navigate curricular and pedagogical demands in these emerging and expanding contexts, address structural challenges, and make sense of their lived experiences, the ways they interpret new expectations, adapt to instructional settings in these programs that are relatively new and understudied, and understand their evolving roles as bilingual educators.
