John Ng teaches Financial Management for Nonprofit Organizations (PA524) at Portland State University. He is the Chief Financial Officer at Volunteers of America Oregon (VOA), a health and human services nonprofit organization in Portland.
Before joining VOA, John was an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Banking & Capital Markets Group in Tokyo, Japan. John’s other nonprofit and public administration experience includes legal advocacy work at the Bar Association of San Francisco and financial services to low-income communities in Honolulu, Hawaii. He also served as an International Trade Development Manager for the State of Oregon and Ohio.
John is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). He received a Bachelor in International Studies from the University of Oregon and a Master of Accounting from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
John serves on the Portland Board of Financial Executives Alliance Nonprofit Association. He volunteered as the Budget Committee Chair at the Beaverton School District from 2016 to 2018. In 2021, John was recognized by the Portland Business Journal as one of the CFOs of the Year in the nonprofit sector.
