Dr. Marshall's research and technical interests include: The mechanics of climatic, lithologic, biotic, and abiotic controls on landscapes and Critical Zone processes, paleoclimate influence on modern Critical Zone architecture, progressive rock failure, periglacial landscapes in a warming world, landscape evolution modeling, lidar analysis, making space for interdisciplinary science conversations and practice, and applied watershed science. Dr. Marshall works at scales ranging from the grain to continental and frequently combine field observations with theoretical and numerical modeling.

Dr. Marshall is an AGU Luna B. Leopold Award Early Career Awardee (2018). The award recognizes an outstanding contribution that advances the field of Earth and planetary surface processes
