Dr. Danielle McGurrin is an Associate Professor of Criminology in the Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice. Dr. McGurrin’s work focuses on white collar crime. In particular, she is interested in the manner in which U.S. regulatory agencies monitor and enforce laws and regulations against corporations. One of her more in-depth studies focused on the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s enforcement strategies and penalty assessments in the apparel industry. Dr. McGurrin’s other work includes studies on the topic of economic victimization, environmental crimes, police sexual violence, criminalization of medical negligence, and corporate crime. In addition, Dr. McGurrin is a certified instructor in the Inside Out Prison Exchange program, is an member of the Alternatives to Violence Project and a member of the White Collar Crime Research Consortium. She also coordinates the internship program for CCJ on-campus undergraduate students.

Students in Dr. McGurrin’s prior classes note the following about her teaching:

“Dr. McGurrin was extremely helpful in figuring out my internship questions. She has a great deal of helpful information that she passed on when researching potential areas of interest. Dr. McGurrin keeps people motivated when they are not as motivated in the nearing graduation time. She is a good reminder of why we started in the CCJ department.”

“Dr. McGurrin genuinely cares about the success of her students. She shows this through her work with students in the classroom, internships, and professional counseling. Danielle makes an effort to go above and beyond the call of duty. She does an excellent job using her vast knowledge and experience in the field to bridge the gap for students wanting to get an inside look into the field of Criminology and what it has to offer. She is tough, but fair, and students who take her classes are better prepared for the future. I know that I am where I am today as a student and person, because of Dr. McGurrin.”
