Professional Scope

As the International Student Advisor for the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISSS) in OGEI, I work with F-1 students to provide immigration related advising. I specifically work with incoming international students to provide pre-arrival support with webinars, mentor training and orientation planning. I am knowledgeable about immigration regulations and participate in national organizations, like NAFSA and locally in NORIE.

Before joining Portland State University, I previously worked at Clark College and Pierce College in Washington state as an International Admissions Manager. During this time, I was an active member of the NAFSA Region I Leadership Team. I also worked at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary where I was the Master’s Program Coordinator. I also facilitated the admission process for the Erasmus Mundus Program at CEU. I graduated from Southern Oregon University, lived in Hong Kong, Kiev, Tokyo, Budapest and grew up in Novi Sad, Serbia.

How I Can Help

  • F-1 Immigration Advising: provide guidance for F-1 degree seeking students who have immigration concerns and need ongoing help navigating constantly changing immigration regulations. Connect students with resources in our office and at PSU to enable them to thrive and succeed.
  • Prospective International Students: I collaborate with our admissions offices to provide support for incoming students with visa interviews, onboarding students and training mentors who support the incoming cohort. Plan orientation and mid-term check-in.
  • Office Engagement: I currently help with International Education Week planning. I’m on the Communication Committee and the Emergency Fund Committee.
  • Regional Engagement: I am involved with NORIE and as a past chair of NAFSA Region I.

  • Languages Spoken: Hungarian (birth language); Serbian (bilingual birth language); English (fluent); Croatian (intermediate); Bosnian (intermediate); Japanese (beginner); Spanish (beginner). I can read cyrillic which can be very helpful even if I don’t speak the language.
