Chrissa Wilkie

Chrissa Wilkie (Klamath/Chippewa) is an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. She grew up in Salem, Oregon and went on to study at Portland State University where she graduated with a B.A. in History. During her time at PSU, she gained experience in leadership and mentorship as an Academic Peer Mentor to freshmen students for the University Studies Program. Through her work with Freshman Inquiry students, professional development trainings offered through UNST, and collaboration with PSU faculty, her passion for education and connecting with youth has grown exponentially. Chrissa eventually stepped into the role of an Education Associate with the Changing Currents Tribal Water Summit program where she was able to assist in guiding tribal youth to become water stewards for their communities. After graduating from PSU, she accepted an offer for an Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians Post-Baccalaureate Fellowship where she was able to continue her work with the Changing Currents program building the Tribal Youth Water Summit curriculum as a Water Education Fellow. In her free time she enjoys spending time outdoors, volunteering in her community, working on creative writing projects, and using the skills she gained from studying history to explore her own family history.
