Brian K. McCarthy is a member of the full-time faculty in The School of Business at Portland State University. He teaches Leadership, Global Marketing Strategy, Selling and Sales Leadership in graduate business programs — and serves as an executive coach for graduate business students. His areas of expertise include leadership development, marketing/sales, and executive coaching.

Brian holds a BA in history and an MBA in finance and marketing from the University of Washington. He is a graduate of the Columbia University Executive Coaching Certificate Program; and a certified practitioner of several professional development assessments, including Meyers-Briggs, Strengthsfinder, Hogan, Intercultural Effectiveness Survey, and 360 feedback.

To remain close to significant business trends, Brian serves as an executive coach to high-potential leaders at companies in Portland and other West Coast cities. He is also the co-founder of Walkbright, a pedestrian safety company. Earlier in his career, Brian was the General Manager of a sales, marketing, and consulting business unit at the Microsoft Corporation. He held several management positions at Microsoft, including Group Marketing Manager and National Channel Manager. Before joining Microsoft, Brian was a sales representative at IBM.
