Amanda Singer holds advanced degrees in Educational Leadership and in Intercultural Management, and is an Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies in the School of Music & Theater. A former faculty member in PSU's Conflict Resolution program, she has decades of experience working with diverse communities to heal trauma and to transform conflict. focuses her teaching and research on unsettling the role of identity in conflict, understanding enmification and hatred as root causes of violence, developing peacebuilding strategies to prevent mass atrocities, and exploring the arts as dynamic peacebuilding practices. Current research interests are focused on the role of the arts in generating social change, the restoration of dignity in the aftermath of atrocity, and the active role of imagination in possibilizing a welcoming future.
