Kevin Neely to head government relations at Portland State University

Portland State University announced Friday the appointment of Kevin Neely as associate vice president of government relations.  He will oversee the university’s local, state and federal government relations efforts and report to the vice president of public affairs and President Rahmat Shoureshi.

“Portland State enjoys a bounty of engaging stories — a new president with a new vision, an exemplary faculty fully engaged in community-enriching work, an alumni base that excels in business leadership and public service, a campus that is emerging as the intellectual heart of Portland, a community deeply depending on the university’s success and most importantly, a diverse student population that represents the future of our vibrant city. I look forward to sharing these wonderful achievements with Oregon’s elected leaders,” Neely said.

For the past decade, Neely owned and operated Election Solutions, a firm specializing in software development, campaign compliance and government relations.  Prior to that he was the public affairs and legislative director for the Oregon Department of Justice and assistant to the president at Willamette University.

Neely, who holds a bachelor’s degree from Portland State, will start his new position Dec. 4.
