Board of Trustees reduces Fall fees

Mandatory student fees for the fall 2020 term will be cut by $44 in recognition of reduced operations at the university due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While many critical student support services remain accessible — including the Student Health and Counseling Center, Recreation Center, the Disability Resources Center, and Diversity and Multicultural Student Services — other student services have been curtailed during the shift to mostly remote learning.

On the recommendation of the Student Fee Committee and President Stephen Percy, the Board of Trustees approved the following changes at its October meeting on Thursday:

  • The Student Building Fee will be reduced by nearly half, or $19, this term.
  • The Incidental Fee, which funds services such as the Cultural Resource Centers, Queer Resource Center, on-campus childcare and student activities and groups, will be reduced by $25.

PSU’s revised fall 2020 mandatory fee schedule is below.

Fall Mandatory Fees

Student Building Fee $20

Incidental Fee $271

Health Service Fee $168

Recreation Center Fee $44

Total Mandatory Fees $503

Winter term fees
President Percy recently announced to campus that winter term instruction will remain mostly remote. The PSU campus will continue to be open on a limited basis during the winter quarter. While most courses and many services will be conducted virtually, we have plans to offer in-person services such as the residence halls, the library, study spaces, child care, and health and wellness services.

We will communicate with you about any changes to the winter term fee structure as soon as possible. Thank you for being a part of our campus community.
