Female Perspectives of Post-Colonial Resilience in Zimbabwe

How do women in Zimbabwe lead, build community, and create social change?

Join us for a faculty-led program in Harare, Mutare, and Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, exploring how women navigate, resist, and heal from the lasting impacts of colonialism. Connect with women entrepreneurs, caregivers, community health workers, and activists through community-based learning, site visits, and conversations with local leaders.

Led by Dr. Joy Mutare, a Zimbabwean-born sociologist and feminist scholar, this program connects feminist thought and the philosophy of Ubuntu with lived experience. Explore issues such as health equity, land and belonging, informal economies, and women’s leadership while learning from women-led initiatives and community organizations.

Open to students from all majors, this program is especially suited for students interested in gender studies, sociology, public health, African studies, anthropology, social justice, and international development.
