Shane Day is an Assistant Professor of Public Administration in the Mark O. Hatfield School of Government and an affiliated faculty member in the Ostrom Workshop at Indiana University. He has previously held tenure-track and/or visiting faculty appointments at the University of New Mexico, University of Denver, Iowa State University, University of Tennessee, and Franklin College.
His teaching and research interests are in environmental policy and natural resource management, particularly in the areas of fisheries, forestry, and protected lands; indigenous group policy and self-governance; federalism and intergovernmental relations; public policy theory; policy analysis and program evaluation; agricultural policy; economic development; collaborative management; comparative public policy; and international relations.
Shane is a graduate of the Joint Ph.D. Program in Public Policy from Indiana University - Bloomington, and is a proud alumnus of the University of Washington, from which he received his Master of Public Administration, Master of Arts in International Studies, and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He enjoys traveling, cooking, playing guitar, watching live music, beer and wine tasting, skiing, hiking, camping, fishing, and biking with his wife Morgan and - whenever possible - their golden retriever Barley.
