Mike Kortenhof, PE, RG, worked for the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality for 34 years. He led the development of a 2022 Oregon program that required large fuel storage facility improvements to mitigate risk in anticipation of the looming Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake event. Mike also helped manage pollution prevention, management, and cleanup work involving DEQ's Underground Storage Tanks, Hazardous Waste, Pollution Complaints, Water Quality Permitting, and Cleanup programs. Mike holds an MS in Engineering from the University of Washington and an MS in Geology from the University of Missouri – Columbia. He was named 2024 Professional Engineer of the Year by the Professional Engineers of Oregon.
