Portland State School of Business faculty are renowned for research, industry experience, and teaching. Because of the rich business community in Portland, the School of Business attracts professors and instructors with deep-rooted industry connections.

Our faculty regularly publish in top journals in their fields and engage in research both at the forefront and the intersection of different disciplines. Recent work has appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Organization Science, and Sloan Management Review, amongst other high impact publications.

We serve our disciplines through editorial leadership positions across a variety of journals: Professor David Raffo is co-editor of the Journal of Software Maintenance and Evolution and of the International Journal of Software Process: Improvement and Practice, Professor Berrin Erdogan is associate editor of the Personnel Psychology, Professor Madeleine Pullman is an associate editor of the Journal of Supply Chain Management, and Professor Talya Bauer is an associate editor of the Journal of Applied Psychology. In addition, collectively, the School of Business faculty holds a total of 39 editorial board positions in reputable business journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology and the Journal of Operations Management.

In addition to their discipline-based scholarship, our faculty are also active researchers in the university’s areas of distinction: social and environmental sustainability, community and civic engagement, and innovative and humane organizations.
