Center for Real Estate
Portland State has been offering courses in real estate development, real estate finance, and urban development for over thirty years. In the last five years, we have created new degree programs to meet the demand for professionals in the real estate industry, both private and public sector, both for mid-career positions and entry-level positions in the industry.

In 2004, the Center for Real Estate was formed as a partnership between PSU's acclaimed Schools of Urban Studies and Planning and Business Administration to manage the real estate programs at Portland State and serve as the vital link between the University and the real estate community. The Center staff work with employers to not only meet their internship and employment needs, but also provide them with valuable updates on the real estate industry through the Center's annual real estate conference.

Portland State University’s (PSU) School of Business Administration and School of Urban Studies & Planning announced a new masters degree in Real Estate. Courses are taught by faculty from both the Nohad Toulan School of Urban Studies and Planning and the School of Business Administration.

We welcome you to take an online tour of our Center and PSU's real estate curriculum through this website, and encourage you to become involved in our Center, either as a student, employer, or supporter.

Cheers,

Gerard Mildner, Ph.D.

Portland State University announces new Masters in Real Estate Development

Portland State University’s (PSU) School of Business Administration and School of Urban Studies and Planning announced a new masters degree in Real Estate Development.  PSU is one of only two universities in the northwest and the sole university in the state of Oregon to offer the degree.

The Master in Real Estate Degree (MRED) program includes classes in Real Estate, Finance, Public Policy, and Real Estate Project Development as well as electives in various offerings provided by the School of Business Administration and School of Urban Studies and Planning. The program is geared toward working professionals with two or more years of work experience in real estate, business or economics. Full time students can complete the degree in two years, and part time students can complete it in 3 years with the majority of classes offered in the evenings.

“The long term trends for the real estate market in Portland, and throughout Oregon, are quite positive,” said Gerard Mildner, Director of PSU’s Center for Real Estate. “The need for trained professionals will continue to grow as the economy grows.”

In addition to a strong academic program, students in the Master of Real Estate Development degree program will experience a wide array of career development opportunities and interact with local real estate professionals through the Center for Real Estate’s mentor program, networking receptions, and its Annual Spring Real Estate Conference. By having the opportunity to interface with the commercial real estate industry throughout the program, students will graduate with skills, resources and connections critical to finding a job.

“Graduates will be highly attractive to the real estate industry, ready to add value the first day on the job,” said Larry Remmers, PSU Center for Real Estate Executive Director.

Applications are due in February and May. To apply or learn more go to www.mred.pdx.edu or contact Gerry Mildner at 503-725-5175 or mildnerg@pdx.edu.
