Yongwen Lampert is a Senior Instructor in the Physics department. Prior to her position at PSU, she received a Ph.D. in physics from Portland State University in 2014. During her Ph.D. work, she studied the effect of omega-3 fatty acid on lipid bilayer fluidity.
Yongwen’s work at PSU focuses on undergraduate education where she teaches 200 level general physics courses, both algebra- and calculus-based. Beyond the classroom, she has served as the principal investigator (PI) of the Creating Pathways from College to Careers in Mathematics and Science (C2CiMS) from 2020-2024. This NSF-funded program provided full tuition for underrepresented students majoring in a STEM field to study for 2 years at PCC and 1 year at PSU.
