Todd Marston has pursued a diverse music career ever since his days playing in punk bands and jazz combos as a teenager. His love of music has guided him to receive a jazz piano education at Berklee College of Music, tour nationally as a sideman with singer-songwriter Sonya Kitchell and indie folk-pop band The Grownup Noise, and perform extensively in Asia with the Sam Hooper Band and Mike Null’s Soulcasters. In 2011, he underwent a 200-hour yoga teacher training through Open Hearts Yoga. This helped to fortify the connection between music and wellness for Todd, as he found that wellness-based practices such as yoga helped him to unlock creative energy as well as immerse himself in musical activities with less discomfort. Todd’s main passion has always been composing and songwriting. In 2012, his Boston-based instrumental quartet Choose to Find, released their 2nd album titled Songs Without Words. Todd’s composition, Above Water (featured on Songs Without Words) won 5th place in the 2013 Indie International Songwriting Contest. In 2017, Todd earned a master’s degree in jazz studies with a focus in musicians’ wellness under the mentorship of Lisa Marsh at Portland State University.
