I am a media and cultural studies scholar. I teach and write about sport, mega events, consumer culture, and globalization. Informed by various understandings of Marxist social and cultural theory, I consider sport as both a product and producer of cultural, social, political, economic, technological, and environmental dimensions of contemporary society. Moreover, I am interested in understanding how sport, both as a media industry and media product, is used and implicated in power relations and the maintenance of neoliberal society.
