Education: MSW from Portland State University, 2011; Graduate of Culturally Responsive Leaders program and the Child Welfare Partnership Program, PSU, 2011; BS in Health Sciences and Minor in Anthropology from Linfield College, 2001

Experience: Shantika worked for the Oregon Department of Human Services for 8 years. Her experience in Child Welfare includes Child Protective Services and Certification & Adoption. While in the MSW program, Shantika was an intern in a Child Welfare permanency unit as well as the in the Social Work department at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in the pediatric unit. Prior to her position with DHS, Shantika was a case manager with Cascadia Behavioral Health Care where she worked in the mentally ill offender unit, helping parolees transition back into the community. Shantika has a wide variety of experience working with culturally specific programs as well as extensive work with youth and adults of color involved in the criminal justice system.

Teaching/Training Areas: Child Protective Services, Visitation, Bias & Matching Children & Families, Child Interviewing, Cultural Considerations, Fathers in Child Welfare and various components of the Certification & Adoption Training

Interests: Shantika loves spending time with her family and friends. She loves to try different cuisines and going to the beach
