Sammy first joined Campus Rec as a student employee in 2017 after moving from Pendleton, OR to pursue her degree at PSU. With a degree in Applied Health and Fitness and a minor in Community Development, Sammy has developed a deep understanding of fostering growth and teamwork in recreational environments. Certified as a Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (LGIT) and USA Swimming coach, Sammy brings leadership, safety, and excellence to every role. During her undergraduate years, she spent the academic terms working as a lifeguard and her summers as a wilderness canoe guide in Canada. After some time abroad and finishing her degree she accepted the position of Aquatics & Safety Coordinator in 2024.
Passionate about outdoor and recreational activities, Sammy thrives in environments that inspire creativity and resilience. Whether managing aquatics programs or engaging in campus recreation initiatives, Sammy takes a holistic approach to enhancing the overall experience. With a deep rooted background at Campus Rec, Sammy remains dedicated to elevating aquatic and recreation programs while fostering an inclusive and dynamic community.
In her free time, Sammy enjoys coaching masters swim practices, watching soccer games with her husband, and traveling to new countries.
