Sabina Haque

Sabina Zeba Haque is an artist of South Asian descent raised in Karachi by her American mother and Pakistani father. In 2014 Haque was awarded the Oregon Arts Commission 2014 Individual Artist Fellowship, and the Jordan Schnitzer Printmaking Residency at the Sitka Art Center to take place in Oct 2014. Haque joined the School of Art + Design as the James DePriest Visiting Professor of Art, 2006-2009, and continues to teach part-time at Portland State University.

Sabina exhibits her work throughout the States and internationally, connecting her personal experience of living ‘between’ cultures and exploring the creative potential of the many places she calls home. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows at Avampato Museum of Art, WV, Bowery Gallery in NYC, Boston Contemporary Art Center, and Los Angeles Arts and Cultural Center, Littman Gallery at Portland State University, The Lincoln Arts Center, CO, and South Asian Visual Arts Center, Gallery 1313, Toronto, Canada. In 2013, Sabina had a solo exhibit at Koel Gallery, Karachi, along with a three-person show at Canvas Gallery, Karachi, Pakistan. In 2013 she also showed work in “Crossing Boundaries: animation/film show”, PNCA art gallery, Portland, Ore.

Sabina’s work has been selected for publication in the Studio Visit Magazine Vol 18. Her artworks are in numerous private and public collections including the Gordon Gilkey Print Center at the Portland Art Museum and the Jordan Schnitzer Collection and the City of Portland’s Public Portable Art Collection.
