Ray is a vegetation ecologist who works on plant ecology and vegetation mapping projects at INR. Her research focuses on understanding where plants grow and why and she is fascinated by the changes to plant species distributions and plant communities that occur over decades to centuries. Ray’s Masters work focused on decadal shifts in a native Hawaiian cloud forest and she is also a PhD candidate at Oregon State University where she works on describing species observation error and its consequences for ecological research and mapping.
