Dr. Primal Pappachan is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science at Portland State University.
His research focuses on the intersection of data management and privacy, aiming to enhance user control and data privacy. Specifically, he works on policy-aware data processing to create data management systems that are fast, scalable, transparent, secure, and privacy-preserving. His recent projects focus on efficient enforcement of Fine Grained Access Control on various types of big data systems (e.g., RDBMS, Vector DBs, Publish/Subscribe) and detecting/preventing inferences on sensitive data.
At PSU, Dr. Pappachan leads the Database and Internet Privacy (DIPr) lab. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science at University of California, Irvine and M.S. from University of Maryland Baltimore County.
