Nicolas Sacco Zeballos


Nicolás Sacco is developing graduate-level courses in population data science at the Portland State University Population Research Center. He is also an external research affiliate at the Population Research Institute at Pennsylvania State University and at the Centro de Estudios de Población (Argentina). Formerly, he served as the Co-director of the Graduate Programs in Applied Demography and as an Assistant Teaching Professor of Sociology and Demography at Penn State University. He has held postdoctoral positions at the Population Research Institute (Penn State) and the Centro de Desenvolvimento e Planejamento Regional at Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil), and was a Visiting Student Researcher at the Department of Demography, University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on fertility decline, labor market change, and socio-economic inequality in Latin America, combining data analytics, population sciences, and historical demographic trends. He is a member of the Latin American Census Observatory, has consulted for international organizations, governments, and private institutions, and currently serves as Guest Editor for Spatial Demography.
