Justine Nakase


Justine Nakase is a theatre maker and scholar. She received her PhD from the University of Galway where her research focused on race and identity in contemporary Irish performance. She is the co-editor of the two-volume collection The Golden Thread: Irish Women Playwrights, 1716-2016 (Liverpool University Press, 2021). Her writing has appeared in the journals Scene and The New Hibernia Review, and in edited collections including Interculturalism and Performance Now (Palgrave, 2018), The Methuen Drama Handbook of Interculturalism and Performance (Methuen, 2020), Intercultural Studies in Performing Arts (Brazil) (2022), Austerity and Irish Women's Writing and Culture, 1980-2020 (2022), The Gate Theatre: A Stage of Emancipation (Liverpool University Press, 2021),  and Performance in a Militarized Culture (Routledge, 2017).
