Julia Freybote

Assistant Professor of Finance and Real Estate

Dr. Freybote is an Assistant Professor of Finance and Real Estate in The School of Business at Portland State University. She holds a Ph.D. and Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) from Georgia State University and a Diplom-Kauffrau from EBS Universität in Germany. Her research focuses on investor behavior, information environment and asset pricing in the REIT and commercial real estate market. Her work has been published in Real Estate Economics, the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics and the Journal of Real Estate Research. In 2019, she received the William N. Kinnard Scholar Award from the American Real Estate Society (ARES), which recognizes outstanding real estate scholars early in their academic career. 

Prior to joining academia, Dr. Freybote gained industry experience in corporate real estate consulting and institutional real estate investment. She primarily teaches the real estate finance courses in the Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) program at Portland State University.

In her free time, she enjoys exploring Portland, being outdoors and attending live sport events such as Timbers games and roller derby. She also volunteers on the Budget Finance Committee of the Rose City Rollers.
