Pamela Guo (she/her) is a current PGY-4 resident training in the Psychiatry program at Oregon Health and Science University. She is excited to join the SHAC team for the 2024-2025 Academic Year to broaden her skills and training in student mental health. As a native to California, she attended University of California, Los Angeles where she studied Neuroscience with a minor in Spanish, and completed medical school at Wake Forest University. In medical school, she worked closely with the university mental health services and wrote a research grant to give students free Headspace App subscription, and understand how virtual mindfulness + meditation can help with stress.
Her clinical interests include: college mental health, severe persistent mental illness, geriatric psychiatry, and therapy. Her therapeutic approach is primarily relational, with a trauma-informed lens whilst drawing in elements from many modalities including: psychodynamic/analytic, acceptance and commitment therapy, internal family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialetical behavior therapy. She also respects and incorporates a mindfulness based perspective from Eastern Buddhist practices.
Outside of SHAC, Pamela enjoys hiking, tennis, and playing Mahjong with her friends. She has 2 cats named Pepperoni and Truffle because she loves pizza.
