Biography
Dr. Newsom received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of Kansas, received his Ph.D. in social psychology from Arizona State University in 1993, and conducted postdoctoral work at University of Pittsburgh from 1993 to 1996 prior to his position at Portland State.
His interests include applied statistics, in particular structural equation modeling and longitudinal data analysis, mental and physical health effects of social relationships among older adults, and health behaviors among older adults.
