J. Forrest Williams is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Portland State University and joined the faculty in 2014. He earned his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University that same year.

Forrest is currently focused on a broad range of behavioral topics. He has papers about gender discrimination and reference-dependent effort in labor markets. He also has work highlighting how to better teach the topic of bycatch and trash fish in classrooms. He enjoys working with students on papers and has advised multiple honors’ theses. Forrest enjoys non-standard economics topics. It is what drives him to study and teach behavioral economics. Forrest is also the faculty advisor to the Economics Club.

When not working, Forrest enjoys spending his free time reading books and playing games.
