Dave Baker (they/them) is a graduate student in the School of Social Work and is completing a clinical internship at SHAC during the final year of their MSW. They have a background in community work, education, and psychology. They have lived up and down the West Coast and have called Oregon home for the past 11 years.
They have worked supporting other college students for many years, including as a Peer Mentor in the University Studies Department at PSU and as a Benefits Navigator in the Basic Needs Department at Clackamas Community College.
They are driven by their values of equity, access, advocacy, and compassion as we all navigate this complex world. They are stubbornly resistant to the entrenched realities of academia and are constantly interrogating its efficacy and the motives at its core. They have a deeply anticapitalist streak that is complicated by an understanding that we're all just trying to get by and an affinity for Bravo.
In their free time, you can find them out with friends, kayaking on the river, walking their dog in the forest, or lifting heavy things with their group of fat, queer gym-goers
