The Napier Lab is dedicated to uncovering new metabolic and cellular mechanisms that regulate of inflammation and immunity during infection and inflammatory diseases. We use a multifaceted approach combining our in vitro studies with in vivo mouse models and R-based bioinformatic analysis to uncover the role of host genetics and environment in reprogramming the immune response during infection and disease. Importantly, the Napier Lab works to enhance equity, inclusion, and justice in biomedical research, which we consider is a constantly evolving practice and moving target. Each of us tries to build an environment of inclusion by continually educating ourselves on the role of biomedical sciences in the historical and continual oppression of BIPOC communities, and by creating a community within our lab that fosters the highest quality of research, both because of and in spite of our diverse perspectives.
