PSU History

Ben started teaching the Advanced Clinical Sequence for the MSW program in 2024.

Experience

Ben's clinical social work experience includes targeted case management (like an ACT team but with a housing first approach), intensive residential treatment (a step-down program after an inpatient mental health admission), and hospital social work (all medical units, adult inpatient mental health units, and emergency room). Ben's somatic practice skills include Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, and Healing Touch.

Academic/Research Interests

Ben's academic mission is to help develop clinical social workers that have the skills needed to be successful upon graduation in whatever practice setting they are called to serve. These skills include both working with people seeking services and within the social workers themselves. Ben's other practice interests include grief & loss, group work, and spirituality.

Personal Interests

Ben personal interests include spending time with his family, traveling, reading, and has a goal to run a half-marathon in every U.S. state (currently at 15 as of March 2024).
