Dr. Alberto Ganis is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Honors College and the Dept. of Politics and Global Affairs. His teaching interests are comparative local politics, writing, and law & society. His pedagogy centers on the student through equitable assessment practices and active learning, fostering critical thinking, developing reading, writing, and researching skills, and connecting the study of politics to the students' lived experiences. 
His research interests include regionalism, sub-state nations, territorial politics, law and society, cultural identity, and European comparative politics. He has published his work in the journals Social Sciences, Nazioni e Regioni (Italian), and Perspectives on Global Development and Technology. His dissertation project is titled 'Explaining Cross-Regional Variation in Territorial Governance: The Case of the Italian Regions' and focuses on how localized historical legacies affect territorial reforms impacting the democratic distribution of resources across Italy.
