In 2020, students nationwide turned to online and remote learning to continue their education while navigating a global pandemic. Fortunately, Portland State University offers some of the best online programs according to new rankings from U.S. News & World Report.
The 2021 Best Online Programs report highlights three standout online programs at PSU: Online Masters of Education and Online Masters Business programs (non-MBA) and Online Bachelor's in Business. The programs rank 27th, 72nd and 11th, respectively.
The U.S. News rankings score programs based on distance learning design, student engagement opportunities, faculty credentials, support services and surveys of academic officials. Graduate programs were also evaluated for student excellence, measuring accomplishments and ambition that enables students to succeed in an online format.
“We are thrilled to receive this wonderful recognition from US News and World Report,” said Marvin Lynn, dean of the College of Education. “It is a testament to the ongoing efforts of our excellent faculty and staff who have provided strong leadership in this area.”
The Online Master's in Special Education was also ranked for the first time this year at No. 15.
In The School of Business, enrollment projections for online programs including its new Master of Science in Applied Data Science and online undergraduate Business Technology & Analytics concentration have exceeded expectations.
“We have online students abroad and across the U.S., from Georgia and to Washington,” said Cliff Allen, dean of The School of Business. “Demand for quality, specialized online education continues to grow, especially as flexibility and convenience are prioritized during the pandemic. We expect that trend to hold and will continue to innovate within our online portfolio."
