PSU updates students on coronavirus response

Dear PSU Students,

Portland State is continuing to monitor the quickly evolving situation concerning the coronavirus known as COVID-19 and we wanted to share the latest updates with you.

Please take a minute to watch this video message from Interim PSU President Stephen Percy and Dr. Dana Tasson, who leads the staff at the Center for Student Health and Counseling (SHAC).

We want all students to know that PSU staff and faculty are actively planning ways to keep the university safe and to prioritize the health and academic well being of everyone in our community. We will keep you updated as the situation evolves.

Facilities staff have already stepped up the cleaning of high-traffic, high-touch areas across campus and we encourage everyone to prioritize keeping hands and personal spaces clean — as well as staying home when you’re sick and steering clear of close physical contact with anyone who is sick — as the best defense against the spread of any virus.

We understand that all the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 can be stressful. Student Health and Counseling has resources and can answer questions. We urge students to make sure coronavirus anxiety does not lead to discriminatory behavior. PSU’s commitment to equity and inclusion remains central to our values.

Please be assured that we will continue to keep everyone at PSU informed of future developments. For information about coronavirus and PSU’s response, please visit www.pdx.edu/coronavirus-response. If you still have questions, submit them via email, coronavirusresponse@pdx.edu.
