Ben Berry, an executive with the federal Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), has been confirmed as a new member of the PSU Board of Trustees, replacing Rick Miller, who left the board last summer. His term begins immediately.
“Mr. Berry has more than 25 years’ experience planning, leading, transforming and executing complex high-tech systems and aerospace projects and programs for government and civilian organizations,” PSU President Rahmat Shoureshi said.
Berry (right) is the executive vice president of information technology and chief information officer for the BPA. He also served as CEO and chief digital officer for an unmanned aerial vehicle firm based in Lake Oswego. His other former positions include chief technology officer for the City of Portland, chief information officer for the Oregon Department of Transportation, and the regional chief technology officer of Providence Health System Oregon, supporting a service area of eight hospitals and 33 clinics.
He also has held various senior leadership technology positions serving the Royal Saudi Air Force, Kingdom of Saudi Arabian International Airports, and Hughes Aircraft Company.
Berry serves on the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum board of directors, and is an Honorary Commander for the U.S. Air Force 142nd Fighter Wing, one of two Ready Alert Bases that protect the west coasts of the United States and Canada as part of NORAD.
Berry earned a bachelor’s of science in life science--biotechnology from the University of Portland. He earned his MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
“He is a great addition to the PSU Board, and I look forward to working together on advancing our university,” Shoureshi said.
