The 2023 Mobility Matters Summit is coming to Portland State University (PSU) on March 10.

Expert adventurers and mobility thought leaders will speak on the topics of inclusive travel and transportation with and for people with disabilities. Keynote speaker Dr. Brett Oppegaard of the University of Hawaii’s UniDescription Project, will discuss UniD’s audio descriptions for more than 150 parks and monuments around the world. The $1.5 million program is co-funded by the National Parks Service, Google, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and National Endowment for the Arts.

This is the sixth year that PSU has hosted the global summit. Each year, the theme of adventure and activism takes center stage along with inclusive design, technology, and transportation.

Parks and Recreation employees, teachers, students, and travel and transportation folks are encouraged to attend to learn about creating an inclusive experience for visitors with visual impairments through new apps that are free to download.

Come discover more than 150 national parks that have increased accessibility through audio description.
