The PSU Rose, Thorn, Briar and University Choirs close the season with City of Roses, a vibrant celebration of growth, community and song. Gathering the fruits of a year’s work, these ensembles reflect on transformation, resilience and connection through music that is heartfelt, hopeful and deeply rooted in the spirit of Portland.
Highlights from the program include Tapestry of Stars by PSU's own Coty Raven Morris, a radiant work performed by the choir at Carnegie Hall in 2025, and City of Roses by PSU alum Henry Alexander, honoring the rich mosaic of people and cultures that shape Portland. The Thorn Choir will also perform selections chosen and conducted by graduating Graduate Teaching Assistant Annie Thomas in celebration of her time with the program.
The evening welcomes a meaningful collaboration with the Maybelle Center Community Choir, one of PSU’s social justice choir partners. Together, the ensembles will invite the audience to join in a community sing that celebrates belonging, compassion and the power of collective voices.
From luminous contemporary works and folk traditions to songs of joy, remembrance and renewal, City of Roses offers a moving close to the choral season. Let's gather, reflect and share in the abundance of the garden we’ve nurtured together in song.
