Calendar Self-Care and Chronic Illness Melissa Bennett is a descendant of the Umatilla, Nimiipuu, Sac & Fox, and Anishinaabe peoples. She is a writer, storyteller, storylistener, chaplain, and educator. Melissa has worked in forensic mental health, higher education, artistic, and spiritual care settings for over a decade and currently works as the Behavioral Health Aide Project Director for Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board. She approaches her work from a trauma-informed healing justice lens with a focus on the intersections of spirituality (navigating the experience of being human) and creative practice.
