The Middle East Studies Center at Portland State University is pleased to invite you to a lecture by Professor Rawan Arar. Dr. Arar is Assistant Professor in the Department of Law, Societies, and Justice at the University of Washington.

This presentation introduces a nuanced framework for understanding the spatial and political dynamics of displacement. Drawing from The Refugee System (Polity, 2023), which is co-authored with David Scott FitzGerald, Dr. Arar will discuss the intersecting motivations that shape why and how people move.
