Join us as we welcome Niek Pulles to the Matthias Kemeny Endowed Design Lecture Series.

Niek Pulles (born 1986, Arnhem) is a Dutch contemporary artist. He graduated in 2009 from the Design Academy Eindhoven, establishing studio HEYNIEK in Amsterdam shortly thereafter. In 2016 he moved to Portland, OR, where he continues his art and design practice (Nike NSW FUEL / special projects and innovation). Through the use of inventive material and technology, his work asks us questions about who we are, how we see the future, and how we want to experience it.

Raised with five brothers in a wildly creative household, Niek maintains a reverence for youthful and unhindered experimentation. His hands-on approach is informed by childhood memories, archetypes, and a ‘need-for-speed’ attitude which aims to keep ideas flexible, adaptive, and unconstrained.

Capacity is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot.

The Matthias Kemeny Design Lecture Series is coordinated and managed by us here in the A+D Projects class! This series brings internationally celebrated design professionals annually to Portland to give a lecture for the benefit of the students and faculty in the Graphic Design program and the broader design community. This series is free and open to the public and highlights a wide range of design practices in an attempt to facilitate a community-wide dialogue about design and related fields. The Matthias D. Kemeny Charitable Fund of the Oregon Jewish Community Foundation has made the series possible.
