In July 2022, School of Architecture Professor Clive Knights attended an artist residency as a collage artist in France at the Chateau d'Orquevaux near Chaumont, about three hours east of Paris in the countryside. Clive was amidst a group of co-residents that included visual artists, poets, musicians, novelists, essayists, and dancers. During his time there, he explored new and unanticipated directions in his art. This Fridays@4, he will speak about his experience and the collaborations it generated.
About Clive Knights:
Clive Knights earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in the arts and in architecture from Portsmouth Polytechnic, UK, and a Master of Philosophy degree in the history and theory of architecture from Cambridge University. He has taught architecture since 1984, joining Portland State University in 1995.
Clive’s primary area of research and creative exploration addresses the cultural meanings of poetic representation understood through the phenomenology of the human body, with particular reference to the writings of French philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty.
